Expanding a network of Community Based Outpatient Clinics, the initiative aims to more broadly enhance healthcare accessibility for communities across the nation. These clinics can provide a range of essential medical services, including preventive care, diagnostics, and treatment. This ensures that Veterans everywhere have timely access to quality healthcare services.

PANSANTÉ, represented by the board members Janine Pereira de Almeida and Marc J. Flohr, had the honour of meeting with Honorable Nassor Ahmed Mazrui, the Health Minister of Zanzibar today in his office in the historic Stone Town. This meeting marks another significant milestone in our ongoing strategic partnership with the Government of Zanzibar. Our conversation reinforced our shared vision: to elevate healthcare access and infrastructure in Zanzibar, ensuring that modern, high-quality medical services are available to all. We discussed exciting developments and the path ahead in our collaborative efforts to build sustainable healthcare solutions tailored for the region’s needs. Inspired by the commitment and passion of the Zanzibar government to improve public health, our team looks forward to the positive impact we can achieve together.

Together with Potthoff Engineers and Transsolar, we have presented a concept in Portugal that enables an energy-neutral operation of a hospital. The local conditions are good and we optimized the modular concept to the existing situation. By developing and validating innovative climate and energy concepts for high comfort and low energy buildings, we recognize that design is influenced by all aspects of environmental conditions. We collaboratively work with the client and other consultants from the beginning of the design process, using fundamental thermodynamics to consider each step. This generates a climate concept in which form, material, and mechanical systems are synergistic components of a well orchestrated climate control system, and conversely an environmental control strategy that is integral to the architectural concept with a minimum of energy and water use. Our design can be totally self sufficient (Net Zero) Our use of SROI (Sustainable Return On Investment) allows us to optimize the cost/benefit strategies used in our design.

We are very happy to announce that it looks like our modular hospital concept will be implemented in Zanzibar. During our trip to Burundi and Tanzania, a new client was so convinced by our unique concept that he has commissioned a feasibility study to prove the economic viability. We are looking forward to beginning our cooperation in January.

In direct opposition to the oft-practised method of “hit and run”, we have set ourselves the goal of not only delivering highly calibrated healthcare performance and the associated buildings, but also of creating long-term additional benefits to the community through the development of local production sites. These operations would be supervised by us to ensure a long-term transfer of professional skills. The ultimate goal is to enable a community to run a stable and sustainable healthcare system.

Better use of space, less energy and collecting water are key elements in rethinking healthcare design. The running cost of a traditional hospital overtakes the building cost in just 5 years. Functional "western thoughts“ of perfect work-flow contradict the natural climate and create unsustainable facilities in terms of operating costs, as well as ignoring the needs of local communities. This led us to the conclusion that "net zero“ energy and water harvested on-site have to be fundamental in an advanced concept.

... technologies is key to our solution. This panel technology is time, cost and climate efficient (suitable for both extreme heat and cold), recyclable, earthquake-resistant, durable, free of harmful gases, and easy to clean. It is also internationally scalable because, with basic training, workers can construct qualitatively superior buildings quickly and safely. An important partner is #Swiss-CMT a unique material developer who is working on these concepts for years.
